        The Seneca Falls convention was one of the first events where women came together to fight for women’s rights. They wanted to create a document that they could give to the government to help explain what the state of women was at the time. They wanted to create the maximum effect on the government, so, they decided to model their document after the Declaration of Independence. They titled this new document the Declaration of Sentiments. ​Huge sections of the declaration of sentiments were pulled right out of the declaration of independence. They went through all the injustices they had to work through. They highlighted the fact that any man, even if he was a criminal, was given more rights than a good law abiding women just because of their genders. Seneca Falls was the one of the first times women united in a uniform way to get equal rights. ​
