Contrary to popular belief, there is still a lot of discrimination in the world against women. These issues range from social issues to economic issues. In economic terms, women see the most amount of discrimination. They receive lower pay than men for the same job and they rarely get the top position at a company. The double-paned glass ceiling is a metaphor showing how women have multiple challenges in getting job equality. The first pane that women have crossed is getting senior positions at companies. The second pane that they have not crossed is being able to take the top job. The main reason that women don't get these jobs is because this is a male dominated field and they feel more comfortable giving it to other men. The difference between a women's pay and man's pay for the same job is rising. This is very bad because it tells us that women’s rights have taken a backseat and our progress is slipping away.
In terms of social issues, there is still a lot of debate about whether it is the government’s decision to tell women how to act or the women’s. Women still have lots of big social issues such as abuse and marital problems to contend with. People continue to work to find answers to these questions. Overall, women still have problems in everyday life and people are working to solve them.
