The Flapper Girls movement was one of the first times women decided to completely go out of the social norms in terms of behavior and clothing. The actual name refers to the loose skirt worn by women at the time that flapped up and down when they were dancing. This was a group of women who completely changed the behavior of women, who up until that time, were following the Cult of True Womanhood. Flapper Girls were also women who smoked and did other drugs and dangerous things. They were a group of people who led a very carefree life and they made it a point to show it to everyone. Flapper girls were young women who wanted to change the image of women and they succeeded. They changed what a woman was allowed to do and they changed a lot of things women were previously forced to do.
The Flapper Girls was the awakening of women who realized that the Cult of True Womanhood was tight and controlling and women deserved more. It came with harsh criticism from some people though who thought that it was extremely bad for women to act this way. Older parents would deny that their daughter would take part in such a horrible movement. Overall, the Flapper Girl movement was the first time that women realized they should break away from the Cult of True Womanhood.
